Let’s Get Crunchy: Simple Swaps for a More Natural, Intentional Life
“Crunchy” living is having a moment.
You’re seeing it everywhere — more whole foods, fewer chemicals, low-tox homes, natural products, slower living.
And while it’s inspiring… it can also feel overwhelming.
Like you have to throw everything out, start from scratch, and completely overhaul your life overnight? Yikes!
But that all-or-nothing mindset? That’s what keeps people stuck. Because the truth is that you don’t need to change everything all at once. I mean you can, but take it from me… that’s expensive!
So at Full Circle Wellness, I invite you to do things differently.
This isn’t about perfection.
It’s not about getting it “right.”
It’s about becoming more aware of what you’re consuming—physically, mentally, and environmentally.
And then making small, intentional shifts from that place.
You don’t have to do it all.
You just have to start paying attention.
So let’s get into it… without the overwhelm.
Start with What You Eat: Whole Foods + Protein
If you’re going to start anywhere, start here.
Food is foundational. It fuels your body, supports your energy, impacts your hormones, and plays a direct role in how you feel day to day.
“Getting crunchy” doesn’t mean restrictive eating or following some rigid plan—it simply means coming back to foods that are closer to their natural state.
Think:
Fresh fruits and vegetables
Quality proteins like chicken, lean ground turkey, steaks, wild caught fatty fish like salmon
Whole, simple ingredients - Check labels!
One of the most supportive shifts you can make? Prioritizing protein.
Protein helps keep you full, supports muscle and metabolism, and stabilizes your energy so you’re not riding constant highs and crashes in your energy throughout the day.
You don’t need to overcomplicate it.
Start simple:
Build your meals around a protein source - let that be the highlight of the meal!
Shop the outer aisles of the grocery store FIRST, whole food lives here
Choose foods with minimal, recognizable ingredients - If you’re going into the middle aisles, be intentional
This is about nourishing your body with intention.
Rethink Your Home: Cleaning Swaps
Once you start paying attention to what you’re putting in your body, it’s only natural to start thinking about what you’re using around it.
Many conventional cleaning products are filled with synthetic fragrances and harsh chemicals that can impact your air quality and, over time, your health.
But like I said before, you don’t need to throw everything away right now and start over.
Just start swapping things out as you run out of your current products. Choose to look for something safer, next time you grab your shampoo.
A few easy shifts:
Use a simple vinegar + water solution as an all-purpose cleaner. You can add scent with essential oils!
Swap paper towels for reusable cloths
Choose fragrance-free or naturally scented products
Small changes like these can make your home feel lighter, cleaner, and more aligned with the environment you’re trying to create.
Create More, Consume Less
This is where things start to feel a little softer… a little more human.
“Crunchy” living isn’t just about what you buy—it’s about how you live.
We’ve become so used to convenience, speed, and constant consumption that we’ve lost touch with what it feels like to slow down and create. We’ve forgotten whimsy! We’ve forgetting tactile living.
We’ve forgotten how to use our hands, to make something from nothing, to reconnect with the process…
This week, we’re leaning into that with something simple and meaningful: seed bombs.
A small, hands-on way to:
Get outside
Connect with nature
Contribute something beautiful back to the earth
It’s not just a craft—it’s a reminder.
That you don’t have to consume more to live well.
You can do this ANY week, by:
Making something from scratch in the kitchen
Upcycling something you’re about to throw away into something useful
Having a craft night at home instead of going out
Sometimes, you just need to engage with what’s already here.
What You Put On Your Body Matters Too
Your skin is your largest organ, so… What you put on it… matters. Way more than you think!
And just like with food and cleaning products, this isn’t about fear—it’s about awareness.
Many beauty and bath products contain long lists of ingredients, synthetic fragrances, and additives that don’t necessarily support your body, and can ultimately damage your endocrine system.
But again—you don’t have to replace everything overnight.
Start small:
Swap to a cleaner deodorant
Pay attention to ingredient labels in your skincare
Reduce heavily fragranced products
The goal isn’t to have a perfectly “clean” routine.
The goal is to be more intentional with what you’re using every day.
It’s All Connected
This is the heart of it all.
What you eat.
What you use in your home.
What you put on your body.
What you consume mentally and emotionally.
It’s all connected.
And when you start making small shifts in one area, it naturally ripples into the others.
You begin to feel better. Think clearer. And even move with more intention.
Not because you changed everything… but because you started paying attention.
Because you came back to yourself.
Start Small. Stay Consistent.
If you take anything from this, let it be this:
You don’t need to do everything.
Pick one or two things from this post.
Try them this week. Build from there.
Let this be a gentle return—not a drastic overhaul.
You can lock in on chickens, raw milk, growing herbs, and making your own clothes later ;)
BE WELL
