Childlike Wonder
When was the last time you let yourself be delighted? Full of wonder? Awe?
Not productive. Not perfect. Not impressive.
Just… wide-eyed, curious, and present in the moment — like a child chasing bubbles or laughing at a joke that makes no sense but feels right.
For many of us, childlike wonder isn’t something we’re very intentional about, but rather, it’s something that quietly slips away under the weight of responsibility, trauma, or just plain exhaustion.
We’re taught to “grow up,” to be serious, to “manage” instead of marvel.
Once again, I’m calling bullshit, and quite frankly, I want to know who started these lies?
Because what if I told you that part of healing is reclaiming joy?
Indeed! This is why JOY & LEISURE is a slice of the Full Circle Wellness pie. What is the point of it all if we don’t get down to enjoying it?
The process… the outcomes… the hard parts and the fun parts…
What if the inner child within you is still waiting — not for closure, but for color? Lightness? Play? I bet she is… Little Leah was waiting for me…
Reconnecting with wonder doesn’t mean ignoring the hard stuff. Don’t get me wrong.
It just means letting joy coexist with it.
And it truly is something you may have to learn to LET happen.
I have found that when you’re coming out of survival mode, it can be HARD to have fun, or lean into joy. It feels foreign. Forbidden.
But I’m here to tell you that it’s not!
It just requires reminding your nervous system (and your spirit) that it’s safe to soften, and to create, and to laugh until your belly hurts, because these aren’t luxuries! They’re lifelines.
So, if you’re waiting for it, here’s your invitation:
🌈 Let yourself be silly.
🎨 Make something just for the joy of it.
🌻 Revisit something you loved as a kid.
💫 Ask your inner child what they need today.
And listen.
You don’t have to earn your joy.
You’re allowed to have fun.
And wonder is still here — waiting patiently for you to notice it again.
Carry On,
L
✍️ Journal On It:
What did I love to do as a child that I haven’t allowed myself to enjoy as an adult — and what’s stopping me from doing it now?
💬 And Remember:
“It is a happy talent to know how to play.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
💛 Give It a Try:
This week, give yourself permission to be a little more playful. Choose one joyful, wonder-filled activity — no outcome needed, just pure delight — and share it with someone. Bonus points if you tell your inner child “this one’s for you.”
